Every session, a screener reads the full options chain for ~2,000 of the most active US names and logs the flow that looks unusual — a contract trading many multiples of its open interest, short-dated bets far out of the money, volatility jumping — and that has no mundane explanation (not a move already made, an earnings window, a matched spread, or thin money). Below is the raw record: every flag, every day, with volume.

Contract is the headline bet (highest volume-to-open-interest); vol/OI is how many times its existing open interest traded — the higher, the more it's brand-new money. Read is the filings/news cross-reference, run on the top flags each day: most are not-yet-screened, which is why the whole list already screens out the obvious explanations.

Does it actually beat noise?

A hit rate means nothing alone — in a drifting market a random name rises often enough that a signal can look right and be worthless. So each flag's forward move is measured against a same-day control set of un-flagged names. Lift is the difference; positive means the flag beat noise. Right now: no edge yet.

Two examples

Caught the footprint

MRNA — before a +177% day

Moderna logged repeatedly in the two weeks before its Aug 19 melanoma-data jump — including a bullish $69 call bought at 58× open interest (~$469k) that the next day's open interest confirmed as new money. The plumbing found it. But the catalyst was a known, public readout, so it wasn't the informed-and-hidden kind we're after.

Correctly found nothing

ACN — a move with no footprint

Accenture jumped ~7% on Aug 19 with no clear catalyst — yet it was quiet the entire two weeks prior: no flags, declining volatility, normal volume. Nothing ran ahead of it. Saying "nothing here" is as much the job as finding something.

How it works

Every weekday after the close, a pipeline sweeps the options chains for the most active US names from CBOE's delayed feed and scores each: how far a contract's volume runs past its open interest (new money), how concentrated the flow is in short-dated out-of-the-money contracts (the "event bet" shape), whether implied volatility spiked, and — once enough history accrues — how volume and put/call skew compare to that name's own baseline.

A composite score raises a flag. Flow with a mundane explanation — a same-day move, an earnings window, a matched spread, or too little real money — is suppressed and kept out of the log above. What remains is cross-referenced against SEC filings and news; the top flags each day are rated explained, partial, or unexplained. The next day's open interest confirms whether the flow actually opened new positions.
